Curtin Geology Club

History of Curtin Geology Club
Curtin Geology Club (CGC) was founded in 2009 by a small group of Applied Geology students of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia. Since then, the club grew to become the influential Geology student body that promotes activities involving students to go beyond their books and microscopes in understanding the beautiful study of the Earth. The club is placed under the supervision of Geology Department.

Vision
To become the most relevant student body of Curtin University that promotes its members to the industries at the local and international levels.

Missions
The mission of the club includes:

  1. Educating the public about geology in particular focus to the region of Borneo and Malaysia in a wider sense
  2. Promoting the studies of Earth Science in Curtin University
  3. Supporting undergraduate students' activities and causes

The club strives to become a bridge that fills the gap between students and industries to create a community of geoscientists. A chapter of American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) was then formed in 2011 as one of the initiatives brought by CGC to promote the students of geology to the working industries.
